Friends of ours who are vetaran cruisers invited us to join them on one of these ship filler deals where you can book 90 days out and get a bit of a deal. We had talked about wanting to try a cruise and didn't want to start with Disney in case we ended up sea sick the whole trip. So we went with Royal Caribbean's Enchangement of the Seas. First impressions are that the ship is a bit older. There were a couple of places that you could see the multi-colored layers of paint. We were priority boarded as we were staying in a junior suite. Overall it was a good trip.
The high points:
The Entertainment Director Marc Walker (BING! BONG!) This man seems to bleed entertainment. From the comentary over the announcements to the MCing of some of the events (the couples game show had me crying) this man understands light hearted entertainment.
The room was nice though a bit dated. The steward was attentive and kept ice in our room after a single request. The towelgami was nice. We hid them in the room for the next residents. While some of the couples in our group were in inside staterooms we got a balcony and I have to say I've spoiled myself and my wife. We won't be doing the inside room. Its just nice to have that sunrise in the morning. One of the things we enjoyed (even though I don't think you were supposed to) was we left the balcony door open a bit so we could hear the water and the wind. It was very relaxing.
We got there early (took a rental car from Orlando) and dropped off passengers. The rental car place wouldn't take us back to the terminal. They said they couldn't drop anyone off due to the terminal not permitting it. so we caught a cab.
