Just returned from a 14-day cruise on the Millennium from Hong Kong to Singapore, with stops in Vietnam and Thailand and it was fantastic! Having travelled on Celebrity twice before, both on the Century, I was a little worried about this trip based upon the reviews posted here, but after a few days at sea I realized that the only problem with Celebrity are the passengers. I have never witnessed such an overwhelming display of selfishness, rudeness, entitlement, and many other displays of poor behavior on display. Reviewers commented on the poor attitude of the ship’s staff, but I never saw that on display even when I personally witnessed: 1) Guests yelling at room attendants because something was not done to their standard; 2) A guest kicking a stateroom door in anger because a staff member did not immediately drop the pile of laundry she was carrying to let him in his cabin (he locked himself out and she didn’t have a key); 3) Guests who feel that waiting in line does not apply to them and that they are entitled to jump to the front of every line; 4) Guests talking loudly in shows, concerts, etc. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say, the crew is great in spite of the people they have to take care of. Now, on to the happier comments.

Embarkation and debarkation: We embarked in Hong Kong and it took us about 15 min to get on the ship from when we dropped our bags off with the porters. There was no line and we sped through a very efficient customs and immigration section. Debarkation was even easier and once they called our number, we had our bags and were in line at a very long taxi stand within 15 min.

The ship: Not sure what others saw, but I saw a very clean and beautiful ship. Yes, there were some paint chips here and there but just about every time we pulled into port, painters were all over the ship applying touch up. I doubt I would look so good after spending 15 years at sea! She is much bigger than the Century and my family and I really enjoyed exploring the ship and it never felt crowded, except for a few mornings in the Oceanview Café. I really enjoyed the Café al Bacio and spent hours there listening to Jordan Peterson play piano. He was a great player and did three tribute hours to: Billy Joel, Elton John and the Beatles. My 8 year old son loved the fun factory but my 10 year old daughter did not care for it.

Cabin Review

Family Ocean View with Balcony

Cabin FV

Very large cabin that was perfect for our family of four. Celebrity advertises this as a cabin for five, but the bedding includes a queen bed in the "main" room, a fold out twin mattress and a convertible couch for one. So, if your children are like mine (8 year old boy and 10 year old girl) and do not want to sleep in the same bed, this is really a room for four. There is a LOT of noise from scraping chairs from the Ocean View Cafe which is directly above.

Port Reviews

Hong Kong

Kai Tek is about a 20 - 30 min taxi from the city. Not much to see around the terminal. Very nice view of the city lights at night. We arrived early and stayed on Lantau Island. A visit to the Giant Buddha is a must.
