My family just got back from our cruise aboard the Carnival Pride. Included on the cruise were my husband and two step-daughters (ages 10 and 11). We were first time cruisers. The cruise set sail from Long Beach on Sunday, May 23rd and returned on Sunday, May 30th. Ports of call included Puerto Vallarta (Wednesday), Mazatlan (Thursday) and Cabo San Lucas (Friday).

BOARDING - The lines were very VERY long, although it all appeared to be organized. It supposedly started at 1:30 and we got there about 1:40. The lines may be better/worse at different times. My husband didn't want to get their for "early check-in". Next time, I would try that, as it may reduce the lines.

CABIN - The four of us shared a room (room #5127, which had an extended balcony). While small, it was larger than I expected. My husband and I had two twins that were pushed together for a king size bed. One girl had the couch (which was a twin bed) and another had a bed that dropped down from the ceiling. We kept after the kids to keep things cleaned up and it didn't feel too cramped. We DEFINITELY loved the extended balcony and were happy with the decision to spend extra for it. Besides being a great place to hang out bathing suits and exercise clothes, it allowed all four of us to be on the balcony at once (although there are only two chairs). We brought wine and champagne aboard and used the wine and champagne glasses in the room to sit on the balcony and have a 'before dinner' drink. The one drawback was that we couldn't get the door to stay open. There was nothing to attach a bungee cord to and the door stop didn't help it stay open. Our cabin was extremely clean and our cabin steward was very helpful. He kept the ice bucket filled with ice to keep our champagne chilled without us even asking him. He made cute "towel animals" that were on the bed each night and which the girls loved. We had to ask him to unlock the minibar because we wanted to store some diet cokes (our own) in the minibar. There's also a small safe in the cabin that we used - it locks and unlocks with a credit card (although there is no charge for it).
