Sail Date: November 2008
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: New Orleans
Our first cruise.

Dining: The most incredible part of our cruise was the food in the main dining room - Windows. The menu was varied nightly with every entree and appetizer a food connoisseurs delight. These meals would easily go for $100 - $150 head in any restaurant. I cant say enough about this restaurant. We booked meals in 2 other upcharge restaurants on the ship (French and Steak) but canceled once we realized we were eating the best of the best all inclusive! As far as the rest of the cruise it was very nice. The ship just came out of a 3 week dry dock with refurbed beds, carpets etc. That was really nice.

Rooms: We were not used to the compact room size on vacations (2 adults and 1 pretty big 17 year old) but that's to be expected on a ship. We stayed in a balcony room so that made a small difference in size but also gave the feeling of extra space but probably not worth double the inside stateroom. Staff: A very accommodating and service oriented staff More made you feel as though you were their #1 concern (as it should be). The staff worked tirelessly throughout our trip and never did I see an idle moment. We asked for and received a foam mattress topper and I would recommend it for a softer bed.

Entertainment: We went to the Broadway tribute show. It was nice but once you've seen them on Broadway - nothing compares. The only other show we saw was the Magic show. It was pretty good and better than expected. (3 out of 5) Excursions: We did a snorkel/beach in Costa Maya but the snorkel was canceled due to rough seas. Water was brown murky for some reason around the beach area anyway. Beach was inclusive of that was fun (3 out of 5 star) In Guatemala we did a boat ride on Rio Dulche with a stop in Livingston Town. Visited a small Mayan descendant community and walked around the forest area and watched the handicrafts being made. The guide on our boat was VERY informative and knowledgeable about the history and culture of Guatemala. (3.5 out of 5 star). Belize we did Shark Ray Alley Ambergris snorkel...TERRIBLE. The most expensive excursion over $100pp. RIP OFF!!! A terrible boat and hour 1/2 ride. You quickly snorkel a dead bleached reef. We saw no nurse sharks. The lunch was terrible. We were openly offered drugs at the lunch venue. The only bright side was we did snorkel with about 50 sting rays. NCL will investigate and send a rep on this excursion due to the # of complaints. Cozumel we did the Palancar reef snorkel. BEST excursion of the trip. GREAT crew on board a nice boat. Incredible snorkeling...(5 out of 5).

Disembarkation: took longer than expected due to customs holdup. Our 10am departure time was more like 11:15 and then had to deal with line at customs. We left the terminal around 1:00.

Looking forward to doing this exact cruise again before the ship heads to NYC. May never leave the restaurant!!!! Less
