I was soooooo disappointed in the HAL. Because of all the publicity of HAL I expected a great cruising adventure. Instead what I received was extreme rudeness from the front office. We experienced air conditioning problems on the 5th day of a 36 day cruise. Our room was extremely hot and it took the staff almost a week, in spite of our many phone calls to the front desk as well as in person visits, before they attempted to fix the problem. We went the whole cruise with this problem. In order to appease us we were given a fan, with wires held together with rubber bands.
The ship was nothing extraordinary. I have cruised with Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norweigian, Disney, Commodore, Delta Queen and have been more impressed and had much better cruising experiences than on Holland America. I do not think I will ever book another Holland America cruise again. This experience has left a bitter taste in my mouth.
The entertainment was excellent for this length cruise.
