My family and extended family of ten from Bend Oregon booked this cruise through RCCL in Sept of 2007. We waited a year and it was worth it!

My family consisted of myself my husband and our two daughters age 10 and 6. We flew from Pdx to Mco on Oct 14th and spent a few days in Orlando visiting the theme parks. We rented a home there and it was wonderful. On Oct 18th we drove to Avis in Pt.Canaveral and dropped off our 3 rental cars and got on the shuttle to the ship.We were on the ship by 11:30 and headed to the Windjammer for lunch. Embarkation was a breeze. Our only other previous cruise was on the Vision of The Seas to Alaska out of Seattle and thought both embarkations went quickly. Our extended family had never been on a cruise before so they were in awe of the vastness of the ship. Our girls were very excited as well. Our room was a D1 room balcony center hump. What an awesome location and awesome room it was very clean. Plenty of space and storage. Our room attendant was Odie and she was very courteous. This was our first balcony and loved it! The sofa was always made up for the girls right after dinner and put away while we were at breakfast. We were very active on the ship. We did the miniature golf rock climbing putt putt and basketball. We spent some time in cloud nine playing cards as well. I think it is a nice touch to have 2 game room with lots of games! We went to see the comedian Troy Thirdgill he was very funny . The ice show was excellent as well. Although I will say the saving of seats was very annoying as we "maneuvered over" many people to get seats sat down and 5 minutes later the man sitting next to us told us we had to move as he saved those seats.. Needless to say the people we had to maneuver over were not to happy either.  Our children attended the camps off and on and had a lot of fun . My oldest won a board game ,so I thought that was pretty cool! They had many themes that kept them busy. Both girls climbed the rock wall and made it to the top! We had the main dining time in the top hat and tails room. Our waiter Henry and assistant waiter Rene were wonderful. They spoiled our children. We cannot say enough nice things about them.EXCEPTIONAL. So attentive. The "boozeman" was great as well. We had no food complaints in either the Windjammer or the main dining room. We did not eat at any of the specialty dining venues as we like the food in the dining room. We loved the food offered in the Cafe Promenade and room service was good as well. On a side note sanitizing wipes were handed out reg. through the day. That was nice! As far as the ports go heres what we did. Labadee beach day, we did some snorkeling too. Saw some cool fish and found some neat shells. Next was Ocho Rios. Contrary to what people say about not getting off the ship we did and were glad we did. We booked privately with Mark Morris, he was awesome. He too us to Duns River Falls then cave tubing and proceeded to give us a tour of the country. We got to go to some of the local area schools and learned a lot about this country. We never felt unsafe with Mark. In Grand Cayman we booked with Captain Marvins and did the stingray and snorkel tour. It was a lot of fun and our girls had a blast as well. One tip is to watch out for jellyfish though. Many people were stung on various tours this day. Last was Cozumel where we did our only shopping. We had lunch at Mr.Chilis and it was yummy. $2.00 margaritas and $1.00 Coronas. It was great! Debarkation was a breeze as well. In ending the only real negative thing I have to say is about the rudeness of people about the elevators. I quickly learned to take the stairs LOL. The elevators were very overcrowded at times and people got GRUMMMPPYY.. Hey I got some great exercise. Captain Per was nice and Drew Devine was the CD that got the job done. Danney League helped us book our next cruise on the Mariner, it is coming to the west coast, YAY, he was very nice. We booked the same room for the Oct 11th 2009 sailing. All of the staff seemed happy and everyone we encountered staff wise were kind and always wanted to please. Anyone considering going on the Mariner will not be disappointed! The ship is very clean and in good shape. There is something for everyone young and old. Happy Cruising.
