Sail Date: Oct 2008
Cabin: Deluxe Verandah Suite

The wife and I just finished our 10 day trip and figured we'd give you folks some info as what to expect on your sailing. Rest assured this is a truly biased opinion. I'll begin by telling you we had a Deluxe Veranda Suite on deck 7. I have not read back over your postings here but if anyone here happens to have SB 7087 (ours) or SB7088 you are going to be very happy. There are only 2 of these cabin layouts and, when looking at the ship's diagram, you'll notice they have "crooked" patios in a bent "L" kind of shape. This provides a slightly larger deck area than we found to be the case on the SA cabin we visited and provides an unobstructed view both to the side of the ship as forward. No other cabin but these two can offer the same size along with that type view. On the inside the bathroom is offset away from the entry way (another nice feature) and seems to provide more moving space Overall the interior layout is, again in my opinion, a better feel then the more expensive SA. Congrats to whoever might have booked either of these two suites.

Now some observations and recommendations. Observations: the ship is amazing in its grandeur and cleanliness. The crew is constantly at work trying to provide the best environment possible for the lady's guests. For those in SA or SB suites the Neptune Lounge staff is without peer. As an example- we attended the Meet & Greet gathering and were fortunate to have the Capt and a few of his staff attend briefly. During the Q&A it was asked why the verandas on all decks did not have lounge chairs. We were told it was a possible fire hazard. Somewhat dejected (the wife wanted to lie outside on the deck) we stopped by the Neptune and, in conversation, mentioned to the staff what we were told. Within 30 minutes a plastic lounge chair was delivered to our cabin. There is little to nothing the ladies that work there cannot accomplish.

The age of the passengers has been brought up in our postings (Oct 18 sailing) and I suspect the same discussion has been brought up here. We surmised that the median guest age is right around 65 yrs.
