Hello - I am Sandy and Dave, my husband & Cassie, daughter decided to do a back to back so we could see more. Dave & I are 60 year olds and Cassie is 38. We travel a few cruises a year. We went a day early and stayed at the Marriott Stelleris because it is on the beach and we could use points to pay. It was a very beautiful place and we enjoyed it a lot. On Sunday, the 28th, we got a cab to the port and immediately saw a large line waiting to check their bags. WOW! But then I saw a priority sign, and Thank Goodness we qualified! There was no one in front of us and we sailed straight through the line to the front and were on board within 10 minutes. Of course, since it was only 11:30, we had to wait around until 2:00 to get into our room, so we did a bit of exploring and ate lunch. Dave & Cassie found the sports bar on deck 5 and promptly found a football game to watch. I read a book outside. When we finally got into our room, it was really nice - two bedrooms and two bathrooms. With an adult child along, this was really good. We did not see our room stewart until later that day, and Dave and Cassie did not meet him until two days later. But then, the stewart turned out to be ok, but almost shy of talking with us. We had late seating, and it was a full day, so although we did go to the show after dinner, it was really late, and we were tired. Monday morning we had breakfast in our room. Relaxing. Dave liked the balcony (234 sq ft) and reclined there a lot of the cruise. I like to get into things, so I explored the ship a lot. Deck 5 has the promenade and I found a few things I liked to go back to. The little coffee bar restaurant was nice - always had something interesting to eat from breakfast to late night snack. I had planned a party that day to welcome cruise critic members before the official one at 5PM on a formal night. We did not think we would have enough time to get acquainted so we decided to have an earlier one in our room and exchange our regional gifts and have a cabin crawl. It was a lot of fun, and we had champagne and got acquainted. The cabin crawl was funny - this big group marching down the hallways going to different types of rooms. Hilarious! Afterwards, we relaxed on the balcony until the official meet and mingle in the Blue Moon. Diane was in charge of that, and gave out a few prizes and everyone got an official KEYCHAIN for coming. On to dinner and a show. And another "early" night. Tuesday, we were in Barbados and we decided just to walk around a bit and got back to the ship a little early. The humidity was really high and took a lot out of you. We had been here before. Wednesday, St. Lucia, Mel had booked us a tour with Herad's and we did a land tour where we saw bananas and ate some, we stopped for fresh bread at another place, had johnnie cakes and fish cakes at a waterfall and then stopped for lunch at a pretty little hotel with an open air lunchroom. Then we boarded a speedboat and went very fast to a beach where we had an hour to relax and snorkel. Afterwards we fast-forwarded to the bat caves and then on to the ship. When you are speeding in a boat and it rains a little, it feels like you are being pelted with stones. OUCH! All in all, it was a fun tour. That night we were invited to dine with the Captain. We met in the bar before hand and had a drink. Then we proceeded to the dining room and sat at the large round Captain's table and awaited the Captain and one of his officers. It was a fun evening. The entertainment that night (I think) was a singing and dancing show. The lead singers were good, but not great. The dancers were exceptional. St. Johns, Antigua was next (Thursday) and we did a beach break called Prikley Pear. For $90 pp, we did expect a little bit more than we got. After a 20 minute ride in a van, we arrived at the shore within eye-distance of the "Island". After a rough ride over, we arrived at what I can only describe as a sandbar. I measured it - 25 feet across and 20 feet back from the water. It had exactly 30 beach chairs on it - the old kind that had been around for a few years and about 20 umbrellas. It had a open porch with a bar where we could get drinks and our lunch. Of course you never expect much in the way of food, and they did not disappoint us on that one. When you go into the water it is very clear, but only about 3 feet deep at the deepest, because then you come upon all the large rocks, preventing you from going any further, unless you get a guide to take you around them to deeper water and snorkel. It was not really worth the money and the local guide even told us it was not the right season for this island. It was always high tide, he said until later on in the Spring. Anyway, we went back to the ship and since they had "fed" us and gave us drinks, RCCL was satisfied that they had provided what they promised. We did not do the show that night as we were worn out. St. Maarten the next day was a lot of shopping. You really can shop until you drop on this Island. Blue diamonds are pretty. Afterwards, we went back to the ship for lunch and rested a while at the pool. That night, we enjoyed our tablemates tales of home. One from Africa and one from California. Really wonder people. We had a comedian, I think that night. Pretty funny. I guess you can see by now that we did not do any pool parties and basically just had a relaxing time. St. Thomas was our last stop, and we shopped some more then came back to the ship. It was as I said, very humid and took a lot out of you. As it was the last day of the cruise, we just relaxed and put some of our clothes in suitcases. We were continuing on to the next cruise. The show that night was another song & dance, but I did not like it as much as the Beatle memories one earlier in the trip. Service was excellent on the ship everywhere you went. Of course there were lots of towel animals each night. We had a good time and met lots of great people. That pretty much sums up the cruise - on to the next week......

Cabin Review

Cabin FRS

We had the Royal Family Suite and had lots of room for everything. Luggage fit under the beds and the view from the aft was great. We were at the back of the ship, so not a lot of noise from anywhere.
