Left our truck at a park/shuttle place in san diego a few miles from the port to save a little money. Arrived at the pier around noon to be met with a line that took appx 2 hours to get through. Very warm inside with the majority of passengers looking to be 60+. Could use some extra fans or coolers in the building. Once onboard the Radiance is a beautiful ship. Just the right size with plenty of activities from young to old. Our unfavorite spot would be the Windjammer (buffet) for the crowds were crazy the entire two weeks, we opted to eat in the Cascades for My Time Dining which worked at wonderfully. We also paid the extra amt to eat at Chops two different times. The best meal & service that I have had anywhere in sometime. Our room was ready after 2pm, plenty of room in the closet, place for your luggage, soft bed linens, and pleasing to the eye. We have sailed with Rccl before & a few other lines, but Rccl has the best in service & food in our opinion. Met our room steward Deb, she was a true blessing, she also delivered extra ice twice a day & we really never saw her but the room was always clean. Pool areas were nice, would have liked to use the Solarium but the lounge chairs had people sleeping on them from early morning till evening everyday. There is a sauna/steam room that you may use without charge, the gym equipment was in great condition, had to wait a little a few times but not too long. Staff everywhere was wonderful. The outside pool bartenders knew our names after the very first visit. Thought that the ride across the pacific would be long & boring but instead was very relaxing. Five days on the islands was just enough to help in deciding were we would like to spend a week or two in the future. Excursions through the ship were well planned out & we were always taken care of. Had some really rough weather on the way back to the states, but no fault to anyone and the captain kept us informed all along the way. I booked a Next cruise while onboard, met some really nice people too. Only three down things that happened, our water in the bathroom had a big issue with sentiment in the tanks so the water was not running clear. They had to work on it for hours to get it fixed. The guest relation asst & manager were on it right away. The other issue for us was the ratio of old to young. Just a friendly reminder that if you take a long cruise & you are real young expect some possible problems. Alot of the cruise was catered to the elderly, and it really showed on this trip. Also they need to rewrite how to put the out of country folks through debark quicker than the current policy. Waiting hours to get off the ship while they call there names over the intercom all morning long is totally insane! But all in all, we had a great time & am looking a destinations as I write! Enjoy sailing the seas-we do everytime. :)
