I've never cruised with Norwegian before - I've always cruised with Princess. But the price was right for this 4 nights Bahamas cruise so I decided to give them a try. Embarkation was quick - less than 15 minutes from arriving at the port. Unfortunately the rest of the cruise didn't live up to the beginning.

Our balcony cabin was quite nice - no complaints about that until the first night. Our cabin was on deck ten - the pool deck was deck 11. Every night i.e. late at night as they were cleaning up, the loungers were scraping against the floor. On the second and third night there were parties on the pool deck which you could hear from our cabin. In addition our cabin was opposite a crew access area (a linen or storage room) and the crew were talking loudly as they went in and out of the room and allowing the door to slam behind them at all hours of the day and night. In short, didn't get much sleep and it wasn't because I was partying all night.

The dining rooms had the exact same menu the first and second night - thankfully it was a different menu on both the third and fourth night. The meals were a bit hit and miss or me. If you dine out frequently and are a "foodie" you may find some interesting choices on the menu but they aren't always executed well. I had steaks twice and I always ask for medium rare - one was done to perfection (the English cut Strip Loin on the last night) but the other was at best a well done. There isn't the upsell in the dining rooms for things like wine and bottled water we've had on other vacations, in fact one of the waitresses sounded almost apologetic and some didn't ask at all. I also found the buffet to be quite small and somewhat limited and it was pretty much exactly the same every day. I know part of their selling of this "freestyle" is that you don't have to sit with other people at dinner but they don't even offer and to be honest I've always found this to be one of the fun parts of cruises - meeting other people from different parts of the US or different countries.
