We are a married couple in our 40's who had been recommended to cruises by a friend so although we had some background information we did not know what to really expect. After booking we came across various reviews that were less than complimentary about Costa Concordia so it was with some trepidation that we embarked.
Embarkation at Savona was a joy, with only a 5 minute wait, then it was onto the ship being directed straight to our cabin. The cabin was small but perfectly clean, the cabin steward was most friendly and addressed us by name all the time. The cabin had a TV with webcam feed to a webcam both front and rear which was handy without any windows as we were in an inside cabin.
Evening food was excellent and the waiting staff attentive and friendly. Daytime food was adequate and plentiful. There has been mention in previous reviews about smoking - this was not a problem. A few people smoked but it was not intrusive.
