My wife and I have cruised on both Royal Caribbean and Carnival. More specifically, twice on Royal Caribbean and this past cruise was my 6th on Carnival, and most likely, my last cruise on Carnival.

Our itinerary departed from San Juan. Because we had only visited San Juan on a port of call on a prior cruise, we arrived 3 days early and started our vacation at a phenomenal resort Friday, Saturday and Sunday prior to boarding the Destiny. Carnival could take some pointers on customer service and value from our pre-cruise accommodations!

We selected this itinerary because of the limited time on board and the variety and number of ports of call. We departed San Juan Sunday and were in a different port every day of our 7 day cruise (St Thomas, Dominica, Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua and St. Kitts.) We have typically cruised in September each year and have always had a great deal of success with weather even in the height of Hurricane season! In the caribbean, we had several systems that did not affect our itinerary (Ike, Hannah, and Josephine)

Cabin Review

Balcony

No refrigerator- Nice tiny ice bucket!

Shower that failed to drain properly!

Electrical issues which included a call from the electrician because of a switch that sparked.

Light fixtures that did not function.

Air Conditioning that was controled from a manual lever on the ceiling to control the room temperature.

Television that does not include menu functionality. This did not allow the passengers to view dinner menus, order excursions or check their current onboard expenditure balances.

Excessive amounts of rust on balconies.
