My husband I celebrated 25yrs of marriage by cruising on the Pride of America. We flew to Honolulu by way of Denver,Colorado from Newark NJ. We spent one day pre cruise at the Marriott in Waikiki. We enjoyed the buffet in the hotel and explored the area around the hotel. Waikiki Beach was enjoyable the morning of embarkation. The NCL desk at the hotel is helpful and surprised us with some real pretty leis. We met another couple at the hotel also celebrating their 25th anniversary and enjoyed a great meal at the Steakhouse on the ship the first evening with our new midwest friends. Our room was not ready immediately after being bussed to the ship but embarkation was really quick because we pre registered at the hotel. Be sure and buy the embarkation photos but they will take your picture a lot. Choose wisely. We enjoyed getting to know the ship the first night and agreed to walk as much as possible and avoid the elevators. It is a beautiful ship and we liked the mural scenes by each stairway. The balcony room really added nice space and allowed great views. The bed was comfortable and the staff always kept our room clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. We liked the wait staff in the Skyline restaurant the most. We also ate at the Liberty, Little Italy, and the Jefferson Bistro. I liked the Aloha cafe for breakfast because we could be ready for our excursions on time. We took most excursions with NCL. In Maui we enjoyed the Ocean Center and Iao Valley and a trip to Lahaina were we shopped for jewelry and ate at Kimos. Hilo Hatties was nice too if you need Hawaiian wear for the Luau. We enjoyed the volcanoes National Park on the big island of Hawaii and the night sail by the lava flow. We took some great pictures with our digital camera. We went fishing off the coast of Kona and bought Kona coffee and macadamia nuts at the factory. Hershey kisses with macadamia nuts were a big hit with our kids when we got home. I think that Kauai was our favorite island. The tour guides are really friendly, and informative. We loved our helicopter tour over Kauai and bought the DVD for a lovely memory. We loved the Luau Kalamaku. What a great show and so well planned for such a large group. The fire dancing and music and acting were all terrific. The highlight of the last day was the sail by the Napali coast. We took some beautiful pictures and saw it all from our balcony room. We did go to some of the shows and bars for a drink but really enjoyed our days so we relaxed and went to bed early. I would recommend another day or two in Oahu to see Pearl Harbor and the Polynesian Cultural Center or extra time on your favorite island before going home. All in all we had a great time. If you are looking for extra days at sea to be pampered it wont happen on this cruise but you get the most for your money in available excursion time and can choose from so many options. Happy Sailing with the Pride of America.
