The first trip to the Maritimes, but it seemed to be a first for so many things for the staff. Bayonne NJ was total confusion. Many of the clerks didn't know how to process the cruisers. The baggage handler area was like a free for all. The handlers yelled, pushed and fought amongst themselves. Bayonne was probably the worst embarkation we've ever experienced. For anybody flying into JFK like we did RCL has no arrangements for any kind of shuttles. You're ON YOUR OWN - beware. Our cab from a Manhattan hotel to the port cost us $124.00 (62.00 each way per hour for the cab). It was the best deal we could find. Getting off the ship was just as bad. RCL would not change our colored tags - but assured us we should be off by 10:00 latest. We got off after 11:00, and after the bus trip to the terminal and another free for all for a cab we hit the road at 12:00 to JFK. We managed to get a van to share with 5 others, so it was only $20.00 per head. Not impressed.

The cruise itself was fine. The weather was foggy and cold, but typical for the time of year and place. You couldn't really use the decks and chairs. Even the solarium was cold. St. John was a terrible day, but we were greeted with long stemmed roses. Didn't do any excursions, but the shopping was great. Halifax - the weather was great. Lots to see and do. There's a Titanic exhibit at the Maritime museum, a crystal factory and store, and great brewery with tour. Great deals and lots to buy/see. The best part of all is the people. Maritimers are super friendly and helpful. They even stop their cars to let you cross the street. Total opposite of New York!

A good cruise, but it would be great in the summer.
