I'm an NCL supporter, but the Sky herself was subpar IMO, particularly when compared to the other NCL ship I've been on. The condition of the public areas were OK, but I didn't care for the ship's overall layout. I didn't care for the cabin and the small bathrooms and tiny showers w/curtains. We also noticed several decks had a sewage smell around the forward and aft staircases, but didn't notice it in the hallway near our cabins.

The first night was ummm "interesting". We knew it might be a wild ride due to Faye and even thought we the cruise might be cancelled. We were having dinner and the music playing played "Morning After". I told my DH I didn't think that was a very good song choice for a cruise, LOL. He said "Huh?" To which I said "Well dear that is the theme song to the Poseidon (sp?) Adventure. And within 5 minutes of my comment we were listing badly to the left, with dishes flying off tables, and breaking glass from the galley. Talk about praying. Geez. And it happened again several times during the night. I was awaken laying in reverse trendlenburg (head down, feet up). We overhead later that the stabilizers were not working well. Well, Ya think???

We found the food on the Sky to be good to OK. Our favorite became the Crossing. Dinner one evening in Cagney's was not very good. My husband is a vegetarian and we knew that there was a dish he would enjoy so we tried it. The dish was supposed to be a portobello mushroom casserole of sorts. It came out with button mushrooms, and asparagus (which we had told the server he hated). The spinach was cold and my potato was undercooked. My prime rib was passable. The service was slow and not very good. We were only charged one cover charge for the mess. But we didn't even stay for desert because his stomach was turned with the asparagus. YUK. The buffets were OK in terms of quality of food, but the selection was limited, and the setup of the Buffet didn't flow and was always crowded with people waiting on more food to be put out. We avoided it whenever possible. we had one great server in Crossing from India and he was fantastic. We never had to ask for things more than once and he anticipated our needs. The courses flowed so well. He'd pick up empty dished and within a few minutes we had the next course served.
