My husband and I just returned from a cruise on the Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas. While we have traveled on other cruise lines, Disney, Carnival, Celebrity and Princess multiple times, this ship and Royal Caribbean cruise line get high marks!. We entered the ship around 11:00 AM Saturday morning. Since we registered on line- it just took a couple of moments. Very efficient. We entered the ship and it was just spectacular. We had previously sailed on the Freedom of the Seas, and the physical appearance of the ship is identical. On deck five, the main deck, you stroll down a promenade filled with shops and restaurants- yes this is a cruise ship! This deck also serves as the location for many entertainment venues. We saw parades, carnival like productions and a host of other great festive entertainment activities on this deck during the cruise. The main dining room has three levels- we had Bret and Davinchi as our waiters. They were great- remembered our likes and dislikes. Service was efficient and food very good. We also dined in the speciality restaurants, Portofino's- food excellent, can compare with a very fine NY restaurant. We also dined in Chops steak house. The food was good- not exactly Mortons quality steaks- but good. Service at both restaurants was excellent. We had lunch and most breakfast meals at the Windjammer- a buffet restaurant- The food was very good and attractively displayed. Not as many choices as on Carnival, but the quality and presentation was excellent. Missed fresh cooked grilled hamburger and hot dogs- they were prepared in advance and not as good as made to order on a grill. The food service staff was always around to fill your cup of coffee, get you a drink or whatever else you needed. I found that on other lines, sometimes the waiters turn their head and pretend not to see a guest who wants something. Our cabin, a balcony cabin on 9 was great- It was immaculate and very comfortable. Thanks in part to Ernesto, our cabin attendant. The entertainment was the best I can remember on any ship. The production numbers were fabulous. What a group of talented singers and dancers. The choreography and costumes were as good as the finest broadway shows. They even had a juggler- at first, I thought would put me to sleep- but he was not only a fabulous juggler Adam Kario, but also very funny. My only negative comment was that the ship, especially in the Platinum Theatre had many young children who weren't supervised, even though they are required to be. The Martini's and drinks served especially in the Olive and Twist and Schooner Bar were great. Brian Blatz, the pianist was excellent- we looked forward to his daily piano music at the Schooner Bar. While we didn't go rock climbing, use the wave pool, kiddie water park, miniature golf, disco dancing etc., we enjoyed seeing other guest enjoy these activities. The ice skating entertainers were excellent-surely olympic quality skaters. You must get tickets for these shows however or you might miss them. The shore excursions were good. We just went to the beach excursions and enjoyed them- But it is nice to stay on board when everyone is off the ship. We sat by the adult pool in very comfortable chairs. I had my hair done at the beauty salon and they did a very nice job. Didn't use the spa or gym as we wanted to- but the day's just weren't long enough! We also didn't play in the casino as we don't like that activity and the casino was very smokey- Overall it was an excellent cruise- I highly recommend it- We cannot wait to go on board the Oasis on the Seas when it comes out late 2009. We also had express delivery of our luggage from the ship to our final destination. It is truly worth the small fee. We packed our bags- left them outside our cabin and didn't see them until we arrived at our home NY airport- No problems- it was great not to have to bring them in a cab or bus and drag them through a very busy Miami airport- they also gave us boarding passes in advance- take this service!!! Well worth it- we are going on a Celebrity Cruise this January and I hope that they have this service available .
