Just returned from our first cruise to Alaska on the NCL Star. Alaska was all we hoped she would be.

We left Los Angeles Sat. morning via SW Airlines and arrived in Seattle, WA at about 10 am. We took a taxi to Pier 66 and boarded the Star quickly and easily. No long lines, no hassles of any kind.

When we boarded the Star we were given a glass of champagne and directed to the Market Cafe. We had a quick lunch and then took the DS (13) to the teen club and signed him in. We then went and purchased a soda card for me. The woman that signed our DS up in the teen club was very nice and informative. I never had a problem using the soda card (which is actually just a sticker that is put on your room key card) at any time. I used it all over the ship with ease. The servers were always courteous and never made me feel like they were going out of their way to get me my soda. Even though a tip was included when I paid for the soda sticker, I still chose to tip the people that served me. They were so nice, especially Juancho in the Market Cafe.

Cabin Review

Family Inside

Cabin I1

Our cabin #8651 was a J category, inside cabin. There were 3 of us in there. The DH, DS (13) and myself. While it was small we were comfortable the few times at night and in the morings when we were all in there together. The beds were very comfortable and we loved the upgraded linens, especially the European-sized pillow we got in addition to the regular-sized one. The temperature controls were easy to use and we were very comofortable throughout the entire cruise. The one big drawback was that the walls were very, very thin, and unfortunately we were right next to some young men that were very, loud, rude and vulgar! I heard the "F" word at least a dozen times a day. I'm not a prude, but enough is enough. When I asked them to please quiet down a bit and not use the "F" word too much they cussed me out really bad! They were just trashy people. We decided not to let them ruin our cruise and they didn't. We had a great time. We would definitely book an inside room again on NCL.
