Booking through Carnival I had planned all of my details out down to prepaying the gratuities. I highly recommend this as I like to have everything paid off even before I arrive on the ship. You can always speak with the pursers desk if you feel the crew serving you has not met your expectations. We arrived in Miami a day earlier and stayed across the street from Bayside Market-Holiday Inn. It is about 15 minutes from the port in fact if you are one of the lucky ones and get a room facing the port you will see the ships coming in early the next morning. Beautiful site. Parking at the hotel is $10.00/day They have a restaurant and a pool. Internet service is complimentary for their guests on the second floor. Bayside market is a nice place to visit. All kinds of shops, restaurants and bars. You can also take a boat ride where you can see "the famous and rich homes".

Checking out by 11:00 the next morning (embarkation day) we arrived at the port dropped the luggage and family out front where we then went to the parking garage (LOT C). They no longer have an attendant in the front grabbing your money. There is a automatic ticket dispenser as you drive up. The cost of the garage is $20/day and you pay after you arrive from your cruise so please DO NOT LOSE THE TICKET. I would suggest leaving it in the car. On the first floor will be a place where you can pay for the parking when you return. You can pay by cash or credit card or if you like you can pay as you leave the garage.
