Cabin: Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

We chose RCI's Adventure of the Seas because of the ports of call (the Barbados route). We booked a balcony cabin, but eventually switched to a balcony guarantee when it opened up. We actually requested cabin 9390 because we love aft cabins. What a steal! We only paid $1049 each for an aft balcony in June!

Hotel-Precruise-The Normandie Hotel We flew in to San Juan two days early and stayed at The Normandie Hotel (booked through Priceline). What a neat hotel! It's big, bright, and fresh. The eight foot pool is very private. The workout area is small but includes access to a balcony-a great place to eat the lunch we picked up from Subway directly across the street. Note: This Subway serves breakfast for $3, it has a complete ice cream and coffee bar, and the Spanish Rice Soup is a steal for $2.79! This hotel boasts a computer area for hotel guests with free internet service. It also has an upscale restaurant (Red's), an incredible bakery, a small coffee and alcohol bar, a breakfast buffet and lunch is available also. There are almost 50 sofas/soft chairs arranged in the middle of the hotel and even a white grand piano. It's very relaxing, spacious, and flooded by the natural light flooding through the enormous skylight ceiling. We took time to walk through every floor to view the unusual artwork. The gift shop has some very unusual and beautiful items including hand-painted scarves, locally-made jewelry, clothes, and artwork. This hotel also has an ATM, a Concierge, taxis onsite 24/7, and beach access. The beach is just a very small strip but you are steps away from the ocean. If you want more beach, just walk to your left and you'll find plenty of sand. The only negative experience was the noise from the bar/lounge on the 2nd floor, However, one phone to the front desk and we were moved to a very quiet room.

San Juan We love San Juan. It's our third visit here. This time, we opted for just relaxing on the beach and working out in the gym. We also wandered over to the Caribe Hilton and spent hours rocking in the hammocks watching the palm trees. It was a stress-free beginning to a great vacation.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin E1

Smaller room (adequate for two), small bathroom but very well designed and efficient with shower doors (for a change), sunny balcony big enough for a lounge chair, a small table, and two other chairs, great aft and side views, more motion because of aft and lots of wind, also some engine noise at night, and a big spotlight at night when you are standing at the railing (it shines on the water, however, so we didn't mind it).
