Before choosing Carnival for our first cruise, we did the usual research including Cruise-Critic. Some of the reviews about Carnival were mixed and concerned us, but the cruise timing and price were right so off we went.

The embarkation for Glory at Port Canaveral was crowded but handled with surprising efficiency. We stayed overnight in Orlando, rented a car from Budget, and took the Budget shuttle from their lot on North Atlantic Blvd. to the ship. Several people ahead of us had problems with Budget rent-a-car billing (pickup in Orlando, drop off in Port Canaveral) but we were charged the correct price and quickly joined other cruisers heading for the terminal.

We handled all the Carnival paperwork online so the check-in process was handled in maybe 5 minutes (after waiting about 30 minutes in a security line). By 1:00 pm we were eating the first of many meals in the Red Sail buffet restaurant. Our cabins were ready by 2:00 or 3:00 pm and the luggage showed up soon thereafter.

Cabin Review

Cabin 8

Carnival Glory - ocean balcony - small but comfortable. Loved the balcony - used it every day for relaxing and drying our clothes. We were away from elevators and not under bars or restaurants. Had cabins 8232 and 8324. Interior cabin is small but appropriate for kids who can be left alone - at least you don't have to share a bathroom with them.
