Legend of the Seas, June 15th-27th My husband, myself & two sons (ages 16 & 13) flew from Portland Oregon to New York; New York to Rome. We had no problems with the flights and all of our bags showed up. We stayed at the Crown Plaza St Peters. We arrived at the airport with no plan on how to get to our hotel. We'd been told there was a shuttle to the hotel but no one knew where to get it. We walked to the train station- which was right outside the airport and once inside there's a tourist information booth. We told the man inside where we wanted to go. For 15 pounds each we would get an air conditioned van ride right to our hotel door. We were to our hotel in less than half an hour. Traffic was very light. The hotel was very nice and had a beautiful swimming pool.

ROME: We bought city bus tickets from our hotel concierge. (2 pounds each for round trip). The bus stop is right outside the hotel, and it's pretty easy to figure out the system. There are signs at each bus stop with numbers assigned to the area you want to go to. If you do get confused, you can stick your head inside any bus and tell them where you're going and they'll tell you the number. We took the bus to the coliseum. One very valuable tip here- BUY your tickets on line before you go. We walked by the longest line I've ever seen and walked right in to the coliseum. This saved us a couple of hours. You'll print out your tickets at home and they scan your tickets and in you go. After the coliseum we hopped on another bus to the Trevi Fountain area. We had the most delicious lunch at a local restaurant. The pasta was homemade and delicious. We got some gelato before we left the area. Make sure you have some gelato! The coconut....mmmmm...!

To the port & the ship: We arranged through the hotel to have a driver take us to the pier to the Legend of the Seas. The driver was there at 10:00am to take us there. It cost approx. $200US. He drove like a maniac; we got to the pier in about 45 minutes. We were going about 100mph, no kidding, most of the way. There was no line at check in. By 11:15 we were in our room dropping off our carry on baggage. The room was still being readied, but we were able to leave everything. We had room 8002 which is an Owner's Suite, all the way forward. This room was huge. It was very pretty, although there was definitely wear on the room. The couch was frayed, the rug a little stained. The size was worth it however. One negative about the room- it's right under the Windjammer Buffet. You very much hear noise above you. We got used to it and slept through most of it. There were priority tender tickets in the room which we used and appreciated having.

Owner's Suite 8002 Very large room, way more storage space than you would ever need. Right underneath Windjammer Buffet so noisy!
