Our Alaskan adventure began with arriving in Seattle Wa. June 13th ,2008 into Sea/Tac airport. Luggage arrived within a reasonable amount of time to the carousel. With luggage at hand my wife and I began to gather info at the "visitor information booth" inside the airport for transportation options on what was best available for travel from the airport to the hotel.Taxi's $40.00 (one way), Limo $40.00 (one way), or Gray Line bus service $48.00 (Round trip with return tickets for when the cruise ended to get from hotel back to airport for both of us,NOT per person). We opted for the Bus line to get to our hotel.$24.00 each way for two, not bad. We stayed at a Hilton Family hotel. The name is "Hampton Inn & Suites-Seattle Downtown. The reservations were done online through their website. Rates were reasonable ($145.00 +tax). Most of the other downtown hotels were $190.00 / $250.00 per night. Hotel was close to space needle, the monorail to seattle center (for shopping) and less than a block away a 24 hour total convenience "QFC" grocery store.(more like a super center.)Hotel tel was clean quiet, and put on a nice breakfast buffet in the morning. Travel from hotel to ship $10.00 by Yellow Cab Taxi. Less than a 10 minute ride. Boarding from Pier 66 was somewhat of a slight inconvenience getting from the street to inside the terminal. There was a lengthy cue snaking around with everyone pulling their bags behind them. The process would have been a lot quicker if persons had their luggage tags with room no. affixed to their bags. Many did not have them on their bags and were having to fill the information out and place them on their luggage. My wife and I avoided alot of the "roadblocks and moved around the others as we were encouraged to do so to keep the process moving. From the street to the ship time wise took about 45 minutes including check in. Not too bad. Before we got to our stateroom we were met with champagne while entering the ship. The ship was immaculate and we really noticed how well maintained the room was. Very clean. Bathroom area was immaculate. I can't speak well enough how fresh looking the stateroom was.Service on ship is extraordinary.Everyone that we interfaced with was polite, attentive, courteous ,and gave us all the results we could have asked for in our questions. The entire ship was probably the cleanest vessel of the vessels that we have cruised and the crew maintained things that way the entire cruise. We were very impressed. Food was the best at all times and 24 hour room service was expedient and good tasting also.Entertainment was a constant ongoing happening with non stop music, shows, bingo, art auction, shore excursions etc. We never found time to have a dull moment on the ship.Time went by so very quick. When we would get in our stateroom at night after a busy day (looking out from our balcony room seeing eagles and whales and other wildlife,) the time would seem like 7 or 8 in the evening and looking at the clock it would be 11 p.m. or midnight with there still being daylight outside. The opposite happened the first morning also . It was daylight at 4 a.m. and I happened to believe that it was more like 6 a.m.the long days was a really neat experience to see. My wife told me to come back to bed. The excursions we took and would recommend as a suggestion , to each their own though they are ALL great excursions. We took : Mendenhall glacier & wildlife quest. Misty fiords and wilderness explorer. Ultimate yukon & white pass railway. Prince Rupert discovery tour. Disembarking back in Seattle ,we took our time leaving ship since we were staying at the same hotel we came to when we arrived in Seattle a week ago before the cruise. Things went a lot quicker leaving ship. A total of about 15 minutes including the customs stop departing the terminal. We caught another taxi ($10.00 fare)to our hotel and checked in about 12 noon. Went out for a nice lunch and when our room was available at 2p.m. the hotel called me and we went back to the hotel picked up our bags from the "luggage safe" in the hotel.Later on in the evening we had a terrific dinner in the space needle restaurant and watched a beautiful sunset revolving around from inside the "Sky City" restaurant. Sights from the observation deck of the city were awesome.Early the next morning we left to come home from a wonderful trip The front desk forgot to give us our wake up call but the alarm was set also as a back up. Either way we did not want to miss our flight home.
