My family (wife and 12 year old daughter and 9 year old son) live in the Tampa Bay area and had seen the Legend docked after we attended an event at the St. Pete Times Forum on Channelside drive. They all said they wanted to cruise sometime so...This being the year my wife and I celebrated(?) our 50th birthday, I decided to book a cruise. This was my second but their first cruise so I wanted it to be as easy as possible since we had children. I booked all but one of our excursions through Carnival to be sure that we not miss any embarkations from the ports we were to visit.

Like all other reviews I've read, the embarkation process was very quick and clean. We had a neighbor drop us off around 12:15 and we were on board by 12:45. Our room was ready by 1:30 so we dropped off our carry-ons and explored the ship and to be on the Lido deck for departure. Muster drill was shortened due to rain, which was GREAT! I had booked the early dinner seating, so even though I missed going under the Skyway and seeing how close the clearance was (I did get up on the return at 4:00 a.m. and it looked liked about 5 feet!) we were able to see a spectacular sunset and get great pictures.

We unpacked and even though there were four of us in the cabin, I never felt 'confined' (I did spend a lot of time on the balcony). I also brought a bungee cord to keep the balcony door open when we wanted. All of our empty luggage I put under the bed so that left us with plenty of closet and drawer spaces. The water pressure in the shower is excellent and my wife loved the power of the hair dryer. Do take a power cord for any other electrical usage you may need (laptop, phone, electric shaver, etc.) Dining: We had dinner at Truffles every night but one (I'll get to that later) and while not everything was perfect, it was very nice. The food was presented very well, but the quality has a lot to be desired, especially the steaks. My daughter was disappointed that lobster was served only on the formal nights, however, our server made sure she had two on our last evening. My son only eats hot dogs, chicken fingers, mac and cheese, and french fries, and our server made sure that he had that every night. Thank you I Ketoo! I made reservations for the Fleece Supper Club for my wife's birthday. I have to say it is very nice, but not worth the $60.00. The wine is very expensive. I ordered a steak that was not prepared to my liking (ordered medium well and it was rare) and I had to get up and find the Maitre'd myself after quite some time. By then my wife had finished dining and I had lost my appetite. We left without dessert. I complained to the head waiter and Maitre'd without any recourse. I put my complaint to the Purser and they were told we ate all our food and would not give us any refund. Now I know why they call it the 'Fleece' because I was!
