Sail Date: May 2008
Cabin: Grand Suite

Took a private water taxi from our hotel to the pier and shared it with 2 other couples from our hotel, so it made the cost more reasonable. I believe it was 120 euros total, including all luggage. As soon as we were dropped off, a RCCL staff was there to collect our luggage and we didn't see it again until later on board.

EMBARKATION: This was so easy. Because we had already filled out our SeaPass info, we were led to a line for suites guests, Platinum, Diamond and Diamond Plus members. This took about 5 minutes, then we were ready to get in line to board. We went through a real quick security line and we were on our way. From the time we left our hotel until we were already on the ship, it was less than 75 minutes.

OUR CABIN: We were in Grand Suite, 8016. There was so many drawers that we never used. There are actually 3 closets, with one of them being a double door closet and floor length hanging space. The other 2 are single door closets, with drawer space below each hanging rod. There are also 3 big drawers in the bathroom, including 2 sinks with cabinet space behind the mirror on each side. In the bedroom area, there is a desk with 2 small drawers underneath the desk area, and 3 drawers to the left of it. More drawers again by the safe, along with a big open space below the safe and 2 shelves above the safe. When we got to our cabin, there were no robes or slippers, and a few of the drawers were pretty dirty inside. I found our attendant and he brought these things, as well as cleaned the drawers. He told me that the prior attendant for this cabin left that day on vacation and was probably in a hurry. No excuse, but at least ours did take care of things. One day our toilet flush button quit working, so he called it into maintenance without us even knowing about it. Same thing for other minor maintenance issues in the room—closet door falling off hinges, one shelf had no pins to hold it up. But the attendant took care of all.

Grand Suite

Cabin GS

Great cabin space-so many closets and drawers, it would be impossible to fill them all up, especially with only 2 people in cabin. We did hear noise of WindJammer above us in the mornings when lounge chairs were being moved around. But most mornings, we were up early enough for it not to bother us too much. We were close enough to internet cafe that we could get wireless in our cabin on some days, but if not, we were just down the hall from it. Great water pressure in the shower, much better than in the spa, which is unusual.
