We returned yesterday from one of our very best cruises ever. After three nights in Seattle, we began our journey to Alaska. We always book an inside cabin, this time second level - center ship. We were on the ship in hardly any time at all. Everyone was friendly and the lines were short. The Captain of the Rhapsody of the Seas was the best ever! He was very personable and had a wonderful sense of humor. It makes a difference to see the Captain around the ship, and we enjoyed seeing him. Our cabin attendant was always available, and kept everything spotless. I will always wonder how they pick table mates that are compatible. This cruise was even better than ever and we totally enjoyed lots of great conversation. The food was much better than our last cruise. There were many choices in the dining room and quantities were plentiful. Desserts were beautiful, and our waiter Ferdinand was always trying very hard to please. He was very caring, too. We chose the Windjammer for breakfasts, and most lunches. There were always too many choices and all delicious. Our ship was filled to capacity, so the Windjammer tended to be crowded. It is amazing how they keep the food coming and the tables cleared as soon as possible. We are on vacation, so we never hurry and I think that helps in understanding that the crew is doing the best job possible to keep everyone happy. The entertainment on this cruise was better than some we have seen before. The Royal Caribbean singers and dancers seemed excited and we were happy that the sound was perfect. We never felt tortured by the music being too loud as we have experienced in the past. As we toured Tracy Arm, a geologist came on the speaker and did the most wonderful talk about what we were seeing. That was a special treat as we didn't have to go to the theater and we could hear as we saw the scenery. Great touch! On our stop in Juneau, we took the bus tour to the glacier, then a boat on the whale watching tour. Both were perfect and we highly recommend them. The bus tour in Skagway was beautiful! There was plenty of time to wander the town afterwards. The shops are interesting, the people very friendly but jewelry is quite expensive. Prince Rupert is a town that has little to offer at the port. Please take a tour - somewhere. We found the little shops less than pleasant as were the people there. One tip - there is a computer in the visitors center and they let you use it for free with a 15 minute minimum per family. In front of the shops there are trees that were just full of bald eagles. That was the best eagle watching we had. At this stop we booked the grizzly bear excursion through Royal Caribbean three months prior to the cruise. It is worth the price and sells out quickly. The boat trip included a terrific guide, delicious and plentiful boxed lunch, and we found four grizzly bears! We opted to carry our baggage off of the ship ourselves since we had to be at the airport sooner than later. This worked much better than waiting for our colored tags to be called. I do think it is easier for this old lady to pull a large and medium suitcase separately than stacking them together. There is quite a distance to walk to get to the terminal, but very manageable. Cabs were waiting and we were at the airport in no time. Wonderful cruise - enjoy!

Cabin Review

Our cabin was perfect. We chose an inside cabin on the second deck. It was very, very quiet. There was ample storage room and we never felt cramped.
