Nine friends decided to take a long talked about cruise out of SF to Alaska. 8 of us live in the bay area and we wanted to sail out of SF and back into SF. We wanted a long cruise, and decided on Celebrity's Millennium who only offered this 14 night cruise on May 5. Thanks to cruise critic, I knew about the first 8 cabins in the 2C category, the sweet sixteen, we booked well enough in advance to get 2 of these cabins side by side. This extra balcony space made it possible for us to have sail away parties for our friends, two times.

The crew on this ship is amazing, they are international, and very well trained in customer service. Nothing was too much. Every crew member had a smile and a friendly greeting. Our waiter in the main dining room, Marisio, and the assistant waiter, Brian, couldn't have been more attentive. We ate dinner in the Olympic, surcharge restaurant, one night. The food and service was outstanding, however when we returned to the main dining room the following night, I told Brian, I had to ask for water 3 times. Brian never let our water glasses get empty! Our stateroom attendant, Lucy, kept our room neat and clean with changes of towels at least twice a day. I will say that the carpet needs replacing and the curtains need cleaning as well as the sofa. This had nothing to do with the great job Lucy did in keeping our room clean. Our bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was spotless.

We found the martini bar before sail away from SF. The bartender, Peter, kept up with the crowds who enjoyed daily trips to the martini bar before dinner. His martinis are the best I've tasted. Start out by having the martini sampler. He makes every martini in the sampler, just before he serves it to you, no premade, warm martini's at his bar!
