My DH and I are in our mid 50's ..This was our first cruise with Princess. We have been on the Nordic Empress (2 times) , Norwegian Spirit and Celebrity Zenith.......so I will try to make my review as objective as I can.... I believe that what make and breaks a cruise is the mix of passengers...I felt this cruise had a good mix of seniors, baby boomers, families and young couples....What really bother me the most was the fact that the seniors feel they rule the ship and can do and go wherever they want with no regard to other people...for example pushing at the elevator, cutting in on the buffet line ( heaven forbid they miss the stuffed tomato!!) being rude to the staff and never leaving the slot machines... OK let me move on... EMBARKATION I thought the embarkation process was a little hectic but once we received our cards it went a little smoother CABIN The Caribbean Princess , for me is a BIG ship. Our cabin was in a very nice location on Baja deck right in the middle of the ship a few feet away from the Promenade elevators... the cabin was roomy but I have seen bigger bathrooms...the shower wasn't as bad as I thought being a BBW. We definitely enjoyed the balcony and took advantage of the Ultimate Balcony Dinner. Our room steward, Wirot, was always pleasant and always addressed us by our names...Our cabin was kept very clean...My DH and I had no problem with the mattress either...not sure if they were replaced but it felt fine for me...As far as the staff is concern, I felt that they were very pleasant and always asked how was our day going...no matter who we passed , they always said hello... DINING At the last minute , we changed from Traditional Seating to Anytime dining and we were happy that we did...We had no problem getting a table for two within 10 minutes...We dined at the Palms ...unlike the Coral dining room, the Palms and a reservation podium and a no reservation podium, which made seating passengers much easier...The food was very good and the service is like you would expect from a nice restaurant...the one thing I miss about not having the Traditional dining is the familiarity of the waiter ...it is nice to have your waiter know what you like and address you by your name...I definitely recommend the Ultimate Balcony Dinner... it is well worth the money...Our waiter Carlito and his assistant, William were excellent ...Once the table was set up, William would run down to get the food...once we started eating, they disappeared outside our cabin and waited for us to finish...it started to drizzle, so Carlito broke down the entire table and set it up inside the cabin with all new linen and cutlery...I was impressed at the attention to details ....We also ate at Sterling Steakhouse, which was very good... Now take it from an Italian, the Pizza bar near the pool was FANTASTIC!!!! It was very tempting to get 2 pieces to go late at night and believe me we did...I never ate so much pizza in a 9 day timeframe...thank heaven for anytime dining ACTIVITIES AND ENTERTAINMENT The cruise director and his staff were very nice and personable but I didn't participate in many of the activities on board...I did do a music trivia contest but that is it...the other activities were fun to watch... Now I did enjoy the comedian "SARGE" and saw his last 2 shows...but I didn't see any other entertainment because I really did not want to fight for a seat in the theater...Now this is where Princess really messed up...700 seating for 3100 passengers...reminded me of the lifeboats on the Titanic...they should either add mores shows or expand the theater....Again, I have never seen 2 seniors citizens RUN as fast as they did down those steps just to save 4 seats for the show...they would have trampled all over you , if you were in their way... PORTS My only problem is we should have stayed in all the ports a little longer than we did...There was enough time to do anything...Grand Turk-beach too rocky...San Juan- too many free drinks....St Thomas- too short of a time to do sight seeing, beach and shopping...Bermuda- again too short of a time to do all we wanted... DEBARKATION Was chaotic...again no one was listening to the staff especially one little old woman who wanted to do what she wanted to do....instead of listening to the staff to go on line like we all did, she pushed him aside and cut across the line to the front just so she can get off the ship before anyone else....Princess definitely has to organize the debarkation a little better than it did... MISC Like the other CC reviewer LIZCOURT, whom I met in the medical office, my DH forgot his medication ...The medical staff was very pleasant and helpful in giving him something until we got to San Juan, where he got his medication... SUMMARY All in all, I met wonderful CC people on this cruise ...there are a few thing that I recommend Princess to do...1- Free Ice Cream, you have free pizza why not ice cream....2- spend more time at the ports....3- add more show at night so everyone can get to see them... 4- have the waiters at poolside be a little more enthusiastic and showy...5- I really like towel animals ....I would recommend Princess and would take another cruise myself if possible
