Embarkment: There was 6 of us. We took the Express Shuttle from the airport to Pier 66 $91 round trip. A taxi would be about$35-$40 one way. Got to the Star about 1pm. Check in was pretty smooth. Got our mimosas & took our carry-ons to our rooms. Went to Versailles for lunch. Service a little slow but food was good. Went to explore. Nice ship, I'm not going to compare it with other ships, no need. I really liked the Carousel Lounge because they had 4 real carousels! Did our boat drill & explored some more. A little warm, but as soon as we started moving it cooled right down. Ate at the Aqua, to casual for me and again service a little slow. Food was always good.

CABIN: We had a port side balcony. Nice room. Bathroom: there was a divider for the toilet, the opening was only 17" a little small. Shower was good size. Shampoo & soap dispenser was not good, you had to push the button several times to get a little. Good closet, 4 shelves on the left and about 20 hangers. 3 drawers next to closet and 2 shelves above the fridge. Coffee maker on make up table w/1 electrical outlet. Standard hair dryer. Desk has 2 shelves, lower shelf has TV. Balcony is about 11X5 and has 2 chairs & 1 table. Public Areas: Main dinning rooms Aqua, nice but a little to causal for me - Versailles very lovely! Sign out front states "No Jeans Allowed" but they do not enforce it. 1st day at sea has lobster and then again on Thursday along with the Chocoholic Buffet. They don't let you go in early for just pictures. Get in line EARLY! Endless Summer very nice! Blue Lagoon Cafe' very small. Market Cafe' nicely laid out, but not enough seats/tables. They also have the menu's of all the restaurants in the morning. Check them out first thing, you may want a "Specialty Restaurant". Ice Cream Bar...not enough! The Grill-hardly open. Pools are very nice and the lay out of the pool area is really good. The Spinnaker Lounge is the best place to watch the whales. The gym has 14 treadmills, 6 elliptical machines, 6 bikes, and all the regular machines you find at a gym. The only windows are in front of 3 of the bikes and the yoga/free weight area. Every machine has a flat screen TV. I would rather watch the ocean.

First Sea Day: Formal night, portraits start @ 5pm get in line early. Comedy by Bill Hildebrant-good

The bathroom was quite nice, but the divider for the toilet made it to small. You could hit your knees on the wall!
