First cruise and hooked!

Sail Date: May 2008
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami
This is the first cruise for my husband and I. Needless to say we were very excited. Since we live in Florida we had my dad drive us the 200 miles to Miami. We arrived at the port and the porters were very helpful with our luggage and directing on us where to go. After a short wait we were able to check in. After that we were sent to another area where we waited, and waited then waited some more to board the ship. We were told the delay was caused by previous passengers still getting off the ship and then the security had to do a check. After about 90 minutes we were finally able to board. We went to see if our room was ready which it wasn't so we decided to have a snack at Windjammers until we could get in our room. When we finally did we were very impressed with our stateroom. The balcony was beautiful and met our expectations. The bed was great and we loved to safe in the closet. One downfall... there was a refrigerator in our room but it was full of their items that if you use, More you pay for. So, we had no room to put our own items.

Food.... the food was good. We didn't use the dinning room as it always looked too packed. Instead we used Windjammers, Portofino's, Johnny Rockets and room service. By the way, Portofino's is AWESOME! Entertainment.... GREAT! Our cruise director Alan was very good and always had fun things for everyone to do. The ice show was the best. We went to two sittings of it. Not to be missed.

The pool was always too full so we never did use it. There was also a lot of chair hogs there.

The ship.....the ship is just beautiful. Both my husband and I were in awe of it. Everything was clean and sanitary and there seemed to be people constantly cleaning railings which is great.

Service..... perfect! Everyone was nice and helpful. The servers at Windjammer were tops and our cabin steward was the greatest. No complaints.

All the ports of calls were great. LOVED the Grand Caymans. We went to stingray city and had a ball! Something I would recommend to everyone. The downfalls? This had nothing to do with Royal Caribbean... but we really dislike how the fellow passengers acted on the cruise. There were so many people that would practically run over you (one almost tripped me with no one else around). People always in a hurry to "be first" in everything. Just plain rude. While we were docking in Jamaica there were teenagers in the cabin above us throwing cups of liquid and trash over the balcony on to the ramp below. A sign of the times?

Disembarking was a NIGHTMARE! We feel RC really dropped the ball on this one. We had the pink numbers and was supposed to be off the ship by 10:00am. That didn't happen. We were still on that ship at 12:30pm. I feel RC should have told everyone it would be a much longer wait as we had a family member waiting in the heat for two hours for us. Next time we will carry our own luggage off instead of waiting for two to three hours.

All in all we had a fantastic time and most definitely will sail with RC again! Less
