Sail Date: May 2008

We just returned from the 5/4/08 sailing of the Carnival Conquest and here's my take on it.

We are a couple of baby boomers, live just north of Dallas, and love to travel (especially cruising). This was my 14th cruise and DH's 10th. Most of our cruises have been on HAL in a deluxe suite and our two previous Carnival cruises were out of Galveston, on older ships (Celebration and Jubilee) in outside cabins. We had originally booked a suite on Voyager OTS for 2/3/08 but had to cancel at the last minute due to complications from surgery in December 07. Thank goodness for travel insurance. In mid-February, we booked the Conquest and were originally going to book a suite but in the process, I found the 9A cabins on the aft end of the ship. After calling Carnival to get some info about the cabin (all of which turned out to be incorrect, by the way) I called my TA and booked 6483. Within a couple weeks, I had concerns about my cabin selection due to its location (above the Degas lounge), room size (smaller than most balcony cabins) bed size (whether the two beds really made a king) and the fact that there was no sofa (no, there wasn't). Between my TA and the folks at CC, they talked me in off the ledge.

We enjoy dressing up for formal night and I was a little apprehensive about being the only ones at our table who were. We had requested a large table as usual. I convinced my husband to take his dark suit instead of his tux as a sort of middle ground.
