This was our fourth cruise on RCCL and by far the best yet! Adventure of the Seas was our third Voyager class ship and it compared favorably to both the Voyager and Navigator. The ship was well-maintained and crews were continually cleaning, touching up, and doing maintenance. A previous poster mentioned that the carpets were worn, but I never noticed such. I did see several areas where a good steam cleaning would improve the carpet's appearance, though.

Pre Cruise: We got to San Juan a day early and stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel. It was a bit pricey, but what's a few more $$ when you're on a vacation? The room was gorgeous with an ocean view and the pool/beach were fabulous. They stated in their literature that check in was 4PM. They really adhered to that rule but we (wife and 12 year old granddaughter) spent the down time at their pool and it was most relaxing. I strongly suggest that anyone taking a cruise should arrive at least a day early at the departure point. Last year, we almost missed the Navigator due to a flight cancellation, having to fly standby, making connections, and all the rest. Don't subject yourself to that kind of stress!

Boarding: We arrived at the terminal at about 11:45 and there was a line of people waiting for the doors to open. At exactly noon, the doors were open and orderly lines were taken care of promptly by the helpful, courteous staff. Since we had our Set Sail Pass we avoided the lengthy lines and didn't have to wait long for a clerk to process us. It came out in our conversation with the clerk that our granddaughter wasn't our daughter (all 3 names on our passports were the same) and we were asked where our permission letter was to allow her to be taken out of the country. What letter??? I had no knowledge of this being necessary and thought we were doomed and wouldn't be allowed to board. Thank god for cell phones! I called my daughter, in PA, told her what was needed, and she took care of the rest. Within an hour, a notarized copy of the necessary letter was faxed to RCCL in San Juan thanks to my daughter's awesome efforts to take care of this necessary detail! And, time was on our side since it was only about 12:15pm and the ship wasn't due to sail till 8PM! Still, I sweated bullets until I finally had our Sea Passes in hand and were on board! Our baggage arrived quickly at about 3:30PM! Our room attendant introduced herself and did an A+ job at cleaning the room and keeping the ice bucket filled even though I didn't request it. We had a balcony cabin on deck 9 right on the "hump," which was simply the best. After settling into our cabin, we went to the Windjammer for a bite to eat since we had no breakfast after leaving the hotel.
