We are newbie's to this business - so I hope to give you a uninfluenced impression of our wonderful days at sea on the Norwegian Spirit. I have booked this cruise ten month ago directly from ncl's website www.ncl.com. Mainly the fact that the cruise ended at another port than its start and its magnificent stops in the Caribbean caused us to book that cruise. I travelled with my wife and my 3 yrs old son. My mother tongue is German - but I am Swiss - so I hope you survive my English! I don't give any guarantee on possible misunderstandings... We did a pre-cruise stay at New Orleans - great city. Go there, lots of nice and interesting stuff to explore - and they really appreciate your visit as they need the tourism to recover from the economical consequences after Hurricane Katrina... We stayed at the Country Inn. Very nice location and close to all you want to see. Just be aware not to get one of the room without outside window...

The Cruise: Boarding was great - we have arrived at the pier by 1:40pm. We were on board at 2:00pm! Very speedy! Lots of WOAU's when boarding - we were just so impressed of the ship - never been on such a vessel! The Spirit is a beautiful ship - I've read lots of complaints that the ship is old and worn - yes there are some signs but you really have to look very closely. Very nice dEcor - Asian style. Good and logical layout - easy to find the way around! Furthermore great infrastructure for families (Kids Club and Buccaneer's Wet & Wild).

Cabin: And again a WOAU when getting to our cabin - we had a Penthouse AC. Beautiful - just beautiful. And very practically, when travelling with a little child that is still taking a nap from time to time. Due to the separated bedroom just perfect for that. And that was also the main reason why we have booked this stateroom. We did not care about butler service - never used them. The concierge service would be practical - if we only would have reached here be phone once - there was always and only the mailbox. Well we were not really impressed by the concierge - the previous one, so this board tells, must have been much better. That's why we stopped using concierge-services after the first couple of days.
