The wife and I just returned from sailing on the Crown. We toured the Southern Caribbean including, Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Thomas, and Tortola. It was, quite possibly, one of the greatest vacations I have had.

Our boat was to leave at 11:00pm on Saturday, March 22nd, and we were supposed to be aboard by 9:00. We scheduled to fly in the day of the cruise which made us a bit nervous. Everything went great. We had about an hour delay total, but nothing major. We landed in San Juan at about 2:30. We did not have pre-arranged Princess transfers and I don't recommend them after our experience. After getting "all" of our luggage (thankfully...it always makes me nervous), we proceeded to the taxi line. There were about 6 family groups ahead of us and it took only about 10 minutes before we were in a taxi. The process is simple. You check in at the orange hut that says "Taxis" and they fill out a piece of paper. It has where you are going and how many bags you have. These two things are what determines the price. The "Zone" we were going to happened to be the farthest and most expensive one. We had 4 pieces of luggage and 2 carry-ons for 6 total bags. Our cost was $23.

When we arrived at the port, I was a little worried about how long it would take for us to actually get on the boat. There were several there and a big bus from the airport let off just before we got there. I was pleasantly surprised. Once we got through the first passport check, we left our luggage for them to load on the boat. After all of the security screens and lines, we were on the boat within 30-35 minutes after getting out of the taxi. The food for the week, overall, was terrific. There were some things I didn't really enjoy, but as a whole I was very pleased. The first night is the seafood buffet in the Horizon Court. OUTSTANDING!!!! I think I could have eaten about 10 pounds of the shrimp (already pealed, and huge). I might have we hit it twice that night (once waiting for our luggage and once before going to the movie outside) The buffets everyday for lunch and dinner were rotated well enough to not get tired of any one main dish. Breakfast was just about the same, but that was just fine with me. The dining room food was good. I would have made a couple different choices now, but what I had was still good.
