We booked a penthouse room with a balcony on the Fascination 3/24/2008, for my wife, 2 children ( 6 & 8) and my sister. This was my sister's first cruise. We arrived at Ft. Lauderdale airport and rented a car, one-way to Miami. This was a new experience for us, it went very smoothly and the rental car company had a free shuttle to the Port of Miami.

When we arrived at the Port, a porter came up and took our bags within seconds of getting off the bus. We had a VIP pass because of the Category 12 room and we found out this meant nothing except were able to stand in a crowded room with other VIP's, waiting for our name to be called. When our name was finally called, we went up to the Carnival representative and she took all our information. My sister handed the woman her credit card and the woman said its not the same one that was listed. My sister explained that that card had expired and this was her new one. The representative said she couldn't do that and she would need the old card, for some reason this seemed very logical to the Carnival rep. I asked couldn't they just use the new card and the rep said that would take alot of paperwork. The rep proceeded with the paperwork and when it came time to issue our cards, my children's cards were there but the adults' cards were missing. The rep said that we would have to wait until they were found. We waited until EVERYONE in that room was gone and then our cards turned up. Out of all the cruises we have been on, this woman was the rudest person I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. We went to our room and it was amazing. It was larger than most hotel rooms. It was nicely decorated and it had granite tops and tables. The balcony was large it had 2 chairs and a table. I have read in other reviews that they were plastic, but ours was a nice sturdy set. The bathroom had granite tops and it had a Jacuzzi tub. The only problem is the tub is high and it is hard to get in and out of.

The food on the cruise was Good N Plenty, if you go hungry on this cruise you've got a problem. Even though it was spring break and there were alot of kids on the cruise, we never had a problem getting a seat in the buffet restaurant. The dinning room staff was fast and entertaining.
