Wish I Was Back on It!!

Sail Date: March 2008
Destination: Mexican Riviera
Embarkation: Los Angeles
My boyfriend and I just got back from the Vision of the Seas last night. This was his first cruise and this was my 4th. I have been on Carnival and Norwegian before and was very excited about RCCL as there ships have always looked awesome. The port was easy as we flew into LA and stayed a few days there and the night before the cruise stayed at the Double Tree right in the harbor. It was nice but around $250.00 for the cruise package (room, parking, champagne and a shuttle to the port) We got to the port at 1:30 and was on the ship by 2:15 with drinks in hand. This is the first time I purchased an ocean view room, it makes such a difference. We had tons of storage and we were on level 4 right on the main level of the Centrum, dining and champagne bar. The dining room was beautiful and we lucked out with a cool tables of 6 that we were all in our mid 20's. The whole ship is beautiful, I did not know this but the Vision is one of their smaller ships which makes it more intimate. I More thought it was once of the big ones but the ship is really clean and fantastic. The food was good but the formal dining was nothing special. I am in f&b and am maybe being too critical but miss the days of cruising when they make the baked Alaska through the dining room. The service was impeccable, if you go ask for Reagan or Randy...they rocked and let us have almost everything on the menu. I also ordered the 5 night wine package which was okay, I actually know the cost of those wines since I am in the business and RCCL is making bank off of them. The other thing with the wine package is that it is a bit uncomfortable to just have it for yourself and spouse at the table. You feel like you need to share with the rest of the table, which I did and had no mind doing as we all became great friends and was glass to enjoy with them. The ports are all cool but if you are in Puerto Vallarta, you HAVE to do the ZIP Line outdoor adventure, it is pricey but once of the best days of my life!!! Everything was great on this cruise and would highly recommend it to everyone. The only thing was that we went in March, to avoid spring break and I needed to get away ASAP after the holidays, and the weather at see was not as warm as I would have liked, it was VERY windy on the top deck. Feel free to write if you have any questions and happy sailing!! Less
