My husband and I had been planning to take our first cruise for 2 years. We talked to various friends and family to make the best possible choice and chose Holland America. We were never disappointed! The Oosterdam was a beautiful vessel. The size of the ship was a bit intimidating at first but once we learned our way around, we discovered both places to get away as well as places to be active and social. We were impressed that we never felt crowded especially since the ship was at full capacity. As promised by so many recommendations to go with Holland America, the ship was beautifully maintained and clean. It was obvious that attention to detail is a high priority to HAL. The windows, deck, elevators, carpeting, dining facilities, bathrooms, etc. were immaculate. The fresh flowers everywhere were an added treat that did not go unnoticed.

I have never been treated with as much kindness and graciousness. The entire service staff was outstanding. Never once did I feel like I couldn't ask a question or have any need met. The service staff is highly committed to the ultimate in customer service. Many became our friends but also knew when to leave us alone.
