Sail Date: Feb 2008

This was our 6th cruise, 5th on Carnival. I will make a long story short by saying the entertainment, food, service, and cabins were excellent. Our problem with this cruise was that we were freezing the entire week. We thought the Mexican Riviera would be warm and sunny in February. Not so!! The days we were on the ship it was about 65. Too cold for shorts and swimming. The three days at the ports ranged from 70-80. It was just not what we were expecting. We were not impressed with the decor of the ship. It was very blah in color and after a while you get tired of looking at nude statues and paintings. But any issues we had were taken care of immediately :we had a refrigerator in the room that was blowing out hot air and warm on the inside. We reported it to the pursers desk and it was replaced the next day. I picked up some kind of "bug" at one of the ports. Probably one of those free margaritas with their ice in it. The infirmary was great. They were very knowledgeable and efficient. They gave me Immodium and later called the room to check on me and there was no charge. That impressed me. This was our first balcony and we loved it. Since I spent a day and a half in the cabin close to the bathroom it was nice to be able to step out on the balcony and get fresh air (in a sweatsuit of course). This was the first time that we had a very calm ocean. The water was smooth as glass. You couldn't even tell you were on a boat until the last day and even then it wasn't bad. We had first time cruisers with us so that was good for them. We will definitely stick with Carnival. We sailed Royal Caribbean once and were not at all impressed. The food wasn't as good and the service was terrible. We are already planning next year to Costa Rica and Panama.
