This was my 9th time cruising when we went on the Liberty on Feb 10, 2008 and it was my 4th time on Carnival. Sad to say though, that it will be my last time on Carnival. There wasn't a lot of things that I was displeased with, but overall my experience could have been better.
Embarkation: It was a breeze. I arrived at the port at 11:30am and was on the ship by 12:10. Our cabin wasn't going to be ready until 1:30pm(which I found odd because every other cruise that I have been on I have been able to enter my cabin as soon as we checked in). We killed time at the lunch buffet and wandered the ship a bit until our cabin was ready.
Food quality: The food on the ship may have been my biggest disappointment. The breakfast buffet was always crowded with long lines and the food was almost always cold. There wasn't much variety either. The grits were runny and the toast was so cold. The orange juice in the machine was waterdown and tasted terrible. Do try the hot chocolate in the machine at the coffee station, it's wonderful! The lunch buffet was somewhat better, there was usually plenty of variety and the food was warmer. As for dinner, we did the traditional sit down dinner every night and Harry's supper club one night as well. Harry's was excellent. The food and service was above average and there were great singers to entertain you as well during your meal. As for the nightly sit down dinner, it was average. We had very nice waitstaff, but the food could have been better. The night that we had the filet mignon, it was the toughest piece of filet I have ever had, and it was cold. The warm melting chocolate cake that was on the dessert menu every night was well worth it and very delicious.
