5 nights was not enough, we were not home long and we were already looking to book our next cruise. We love Norwegian because of all the dinning options, you can fine dine each night at a different restaurant, and here's a great tip few people seem to know: If you dine in the specialty restaurants after 9 pm the Jewel gives you a two for one deal, so if you don't mind eating late, which personally with all the breakfast and lunch and 4 pm buffets going on I'm not even hungry until 9, you really get a great deal. The French Bistro was so good, better escargot then we had in France or Quebec. The Steak house is also good but stick to the filet, there other steaks are a little chewy, hard to cut. I know that sounds bad but the room the service and all the fabulous side dishes are so good it makes up for it. The main no charge dinning rooms are great for breakfast and lunch, dinner is just ok. We really loved the aft deck outdoor buffet area, and we are not buffet people but being outside in the gorgeous weather with the blue water is so wonderful, and for breakfast the food is perfect, tons of choices! Ok enough about the food, yes we both gained 5 pounds. The other great thing about the Jewel is the cruise director and assistant director. Normally on cruises (I've been on 3 others) I don't even notice who the cruise director is but on the Jewel these 2 guys are so funny, and constantly around. The head director is Jimmy and he kinda looks and sounds like Tom Hanks, dry, witty humor. the assistant director is this sexy Australian metrosexual type named John and these guys play off of each other so well it's a riot. They truly love there jobs and it shows. Make sure you go to all the late night shows in the Spinnaker lounge that's where the comedy is.adult humor, don't bring children. Let's see as far as everything else goes, the ship is beautiful but no high atrium like other ships, the pool area is very pretty with those overflow pools. We got up late each sea day and always managed to find good lounge chairs. Our shore time, we just hopped off the boat and took cab rides to the nearest beach, it's cheap easy and everything you need is right at the beach, just tell the drivers what you want. The Caymans 7 mile beach was so nice! Also another tip, on your last night they want your bags in the hall before mid-night but you don't have to you can also just lug your own bags off the next day, it's easier. If you don't have an early plane to catch, just relax and have a long breakfast, you can hang on board till 10ish.
