As experienced cruisers (this was our 4th), we booked our first cruise on a Norwegian Cruise Lines ship because we had been attracted by the freestyle cruising ads. We didn't book until a month before sailing so were surprised and happy to get a Penthouse Suite at a price most attractive. We found the entire experience to be wonderful - start to finish.
Check-in: We were greeted as we entered the terminal by a congenial person who had our name on a list, then escorted us to the check-in lounge for passengers sailing in suites. Refreshments and comfortable seats awaited us as a personable young woman took our credit card info, processed out boarding cards, and took our photos. Then one of the officers escorted us on board and to our cabin. We dropped off our carry on bags, and headed for the dining room for lunch. Most passengers were at the buffet, but if you listened carefully to the announcements you would learn one of the main dining rooms was open. After a wonderful lunch, we retired to the cabin. Our bags arrived shortly and we unpacked. If you can afford it, get a Penthouse suite - three full room (a big bedroom, a big living room, and a bath with whirlpool tub.
Food: delicious and plenty. Although portions are not particularly large, there are several courses and if you want more, they will happily bring you all you want. Service was classy and attentive.
