This was our 2nd cruise on the QM2 out of NYC- rather Brooklyn- our first was in 2006 out of NYC. Though Brooklyn is so much better - faster boarding time and less confusing to access the ship. Though when you leave the cruise at the end - and you have to wait outside it will be cold -as there is no facility inside to wait for your limo ride home. I felt the service on board was not quite what it was on the last cruise- I did meet fellow Cunard past passengers who agreed - they said it was rumored that the Ateam went to the Queen Victoria. Our cabin steward though pleasant was just never around. At dinner, it took our serving staff 2.5 hours to get us out of the dining room - so we often were late for the evenings entertainment. The shows are just excellent - dance & song reviews. They had an excellent comedian and a wonderful violinist. The activities during the days at sea are the reason we go - the art lessons, the planetarium, the theatre and the writing lecture by an author were superb. There excursions are over priced and boring - unless you love riding for 3 h ours and looking at sugar cane. Our best days were at the beaches in St. Lucia. The train excursion at St. Kitts was so awful you wanted to jump off.! The pools are wonderful and the high light for us was their special restaurant, Todd English, that was $30 per person extra -as the food in the dining room was far from extraordinary. The Canyon Ranch Spa which last time was the highlight of the cruise was just a disappointment. It was over crowded, and understaffed. When we asked for bags for wet bathing suits - we were told they requested them from Arizona but they never arrived. You were on your own when you entered- not great tour like last time. The beauty salon though lovely to look really had incompetent stylists - if you are used to NYC- everyone was given the same teased hair style - that fell out and look dreadful. Hope this review gives you some insight on what to expect from this wonderful large ship. Don't miss high tea in the ball room and leaving NY Harbor from the pub - our favorite place on the ship for games and great pub food. The pursers' desk was fast efficient and pleasant if you had any questions.
