  3. Norwegian Star
Background Information: This was my 32 cruise. I have sailed on Carnival, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Holland America, and Celebrity. This was my 9th on NCL.

Ship Information: We sailed over New Year's and found there were more children than any other holiday cruise we have been on. The ship was very clean.

Service: Service was great in all areas. If you are a gold member (over 9 NCL cruises), use the concierge to book your excursions and diner reservations. As a Gold Member, we were invited to some VIP parties and really enjoyed them.

Dining: When you get on board, go to deck 8 to make your reservation for the first and second night. You are able to make reservations starting around 7 a.m. the day before, so make sure you don't forget to do this so you are not disappointed. Go to the main dining room on the formal night (no reservation needed). Our favorite restaurant was Gagne Steak House - make sure you order their Gagne fries. Our second favorite was the Hibachi restaurant. The other restaurant we really liked was the French Bistro & Soho. Before you order your meal, ask the waiter what they recommend. If you don't like crowds, eat in the main dining room for breakfast and lunch instead of the buffet. A lot of people don't realize you can eat in the main dining room for lunch on embarkation day - highly recommend doing that. If you eat in the buffet, make sure you walk to the right side of the room once you are off the elevators because it is less crowded.

Dress Code: Most people dressed business causal during the dinners. They allow jeans in all dining rooms except the Versailles at night.

Entertainment: The three dance shows were outstanding. The dancers & signers were one of the best I have ever seen at sea.

Shore Excursions we recommend: Zihuatenejo - Take a taxi to Playa La Ropa (Beach). Beautiful beach that isn't crowded with chairs, restaurants, etc.

Cabo - When you get off ship, sign up for a water taxi tour that takes you around on a 45 minute tour. It costs $12 - $15/person. You will then have time to walk to down town for shopping and then walk to the beach if you want.
