This was our 7th cruise in 7 years and 5th with the RCCL family (including Celebrity). This was our 2nd year in a row sailing from San Juan. We sailed the Serenade of the Seas last year at the same time and it was a wonderful experience.

Embarkation: We arrived at the pier by taxi from the Courtyard Marriott. Upon entry we were greeted by a RCCL customer service representative that was supposed to be bilingual. The representative could speak English very well. However, her comprehension left much to be desired. Not only that she was not well versed in policy as it refers to military rates. Since we had booked using the military rate we were very familiar with the process. We asked the representative if my husband needed to present his military id. She said no. She didn't even notice that the rate was a military rate and that she needed to verify military ids. She didn't comprehend what we were talking about. Nevertheless we went up to the ship to board. We also had a question about the onboard account that she couldn't answer. She read what the paper said and said, "I don't know". Upon boarding the ship I noticed there was no antibacterial cleaner for our hands. This had been the process on the Serenade and the Jewel before boarding the ship to cut down on the possibility of viruses spreading. We went to our cabin and the first thing I do is inspect the cabin to make sure it is clean. Upon inspecting the bathroom, I noticed hair left in the shower and mold around the base of the shower. It was not a pretty site. In addition there was a dead bee on the floor in the balcony cabin. I was not very happy, but I called the cabin stewart and she re-cleaned the shower. I handed her the dead bee in a kleenex. Apparently the cabin was not vacuumed before we came on board. Or if it was, it was not vacuumed very well. 3 days after we had been on the ship, the stewart had someone to come and fill the cracked areas in shower that exposed the mold. Not to mention, our room had an odor the entire time we were there that actually smelled like urine. I was so glad we brought along our Nutrair to help with the smell.

Food: The food on the Adventure was OK, but definitely not the best I have had. The food on the buffet was not hot enough. This maybe attributed to the poor design plan of the buffet area. Instead of stations like on the Jewel and the Serenade, this ship had very long traditional buffet lines which cause major congestion when trying to get food. My husband and I wised up and ate most of our breakfast meals in the dining rooms. The food in the dining room was acceptable. The lamb was very good along with the chicken marsala. I didn't eat in the dining room on the night they had lobster, but my husband said it was good. Our waiter and assistant waiter were very very good. They were actually the best part of the cruise for me. I also liked getting food on the Promenade. The croissant sandwiches were excellent along with the desserts and cookies. At the promenade bar, the bartender named Johnson made a really great mojito! We also ate at Johnny Rockets (there is a cover charge) and really enjoyed the burgers, fries and onion rings.
