We enjoyed our 7 day Eastern Caribbean cruise. This is our 7th cruise, first on Carnival. There were strengths and weaknesses.

The cruise director staff was better than any cruise we had been on. John the director was polished, sharp tongued, engaging, and truly funny. His and his foil, the assistant Cruise director Wee Jimmy, brought images of Abbott & Costello. Every show that they participated became a wildly funny event. This cruise had lots of goofballs to spice up the shows, and John played everyone beautifully. Except for one, the shows were all top quality. We found the hypnotist to be silly, and totally not believable.

The other main strength is the night club / music scene. All the lounges had 5 times as much floor space as other ships we have been on. This is obviously a draw for the younger folk. Our ship had lots of college age spring breakers filling the lounges. Interesting, these young people were not a problem at all. Very friendly, courteous, and not disrespectful in any way to the rest of the adult crowd. They even cheered me on wildly (54 year old man) as I won a lip sinking contest pool side at 1 AM.
