We left on November 11, 2007 from the Galveston port on the Carnival Conquest. We are experienced cruisers and this is our 3rd time on the Conquest and 13th cruise overall. The last time I sailed the Conquest was in 2004. The ship still looks good and is very clean and well maintained. I thought the gift shops lacked selection. The casino seemed to be smokier than I remember. They have added a new electronic poker table that was a big hit with my husband! He had to wait around until after 10pm most nights before they had enough guys to play but when they did they stayed up until 3 or 4am. My 17 year old daughter was on this trip and she said it was more like an old people's cruise, there were not that many teenagers aboard. Needless to say we had a lot of family time, which was fine with us. My daughter had her done for formal night and after $90 I think she could probably have done it better herself. Oh well, she enjoyed the pampering and attention. Jamaica was a port we have seen before and we chose to stay on the ship and get a couple's massage and pedicures while my daughter had a hot rock, aromotherapy massage. We loved it and saved about 40% while in port. My daughter also had a lime body scrub one day and we give the spa an A+! It was clean, the service was excellent, the treatments were very relaxing and the cost was reasonable. We did not have any problems with product pushing in the spa either. The food was good and plentiful throughout the cruise. We ate in the Point Supper Club one night and that was worth the $30 pp cover charge. In Grand Cayman we tendered from the ship, made a right at the terminal and walked about 1/2 mile to the Cayman autos door and rented a jeep for the day $90 included the rental, insurance and driver's license. It was great to go to Hell, the Turtle Farm, West End, East End and do our own thing. Cozumel we just walked around and shopped, had lunch and Palermo's and then a quick blow through Senor Frog's. We don't drink but it was fun to watch everyone else get drunk and rowdy. We normally scuba dive in Cayman and Cozumel but skipped it this time because the weather can be unpredictable this time of year and North winds will cause some rains and port closings. It's terrible to lug all of our gear and then not get a chance to dive. Overall I would say this was a very relaxing cruise and the Carnival Conquest has great service and a very nice staff. We stayed in the Penthouse Suite on deck 7. It was a nice big room for the three of us with tons of closets and drawers. It has a large tub/shower and vanity area. The balcony is big and has three chairs on it and a small table. There did not seem to be as many activities as there has been in year's past. I think if you approach this cruise as a floating hotel and you have to pay for the extra's then you will not be disappointed. If you expect a $499 cruise and have it be "all-inclusive" then you are in for a rude awakening.
