We sailed 10-28-07 This was my 7th cruise and my 6th with Carnival. I will start with the basics and cover the rest in the latter. 1. Ship was in good condition for its age. 2. The ports were the best I have ever been to 3. The wait staff was AWESOME as was our room steward 4. The entertainment was excellent The Destiny Dancers ROCK!!!

Now for the bad!!! We were traveling in a group of 15. Our reservations were made in December of 2006. I realize no guarantee for seating but we were placed at 4 different tables with 2 different times to eat in 2 different dining rooms. The maitre"D said nothing he could do..went to purser said was Not their responsibility I had to talk to Andrea Chessa head MAITRE"D...boy was that there motto in action "CARNIVAL CARES". The embarkation was a joke!! Be prepared to WAIT! I have never had to wait in such a line as this...it was like herding in the cattle. The room was fine as was the ship. I did not see any real decor issues at all. The luggage arrived and it was torn in two spots. Had just purchased new before the trip. Carnival said we have to have it repaired and then send the bill and they will then CONSIDER PAYMENT TO US. I didn"t even know there was a luggage repair business. I will be checking into though. The people on board were 80% Puerto Rican as they had given the locals A DISCOUNT TO FILL THE SHIP. One man said that he was on an excursion everyday because if you were from P.R. your cost was 15$ per excursion..that was part of the special for locals. I was in shock! I book months ahead and cannot get a discount for 15 but if I were a different race or lived in a special area...I was 1/2 the cost. SHAME ON CARNIVAL. The decks were always filled with children running and diving no security around and when there was it turned the other way. Reported this and again purser did nothing. Children were never supervised and parents were not paying an attention. My children were intimidated by the Puerto Ricans they were told they would "kick their butts" if they tried to get in on the basketball courts. I was going to report this but the boys said that would only make things worse. There was a 13 year old beat up and wallet was stolen right in the teen disco/game room. Security did have the boy identify the kid but failed to follow up and assure the parents and boy that they had indeed handled this with the boys and the parents. It was like being on the wrong side of town for a week of vacation! I will NEVER CRUISE OUT OF PUERTO RICO NOR WILL I EVER CRUISE CARNIVAL AGAIN. I think I will pay more(as this is a very affordable cruise) to make sure that I get a vacation that is safe and fun for my family. I would encourage anyone else to do the same. There were excellent ports but the BAD FAR OUT WAYS THE GOOD ON THIS SHIP. In closing the disembarkation was way worse than the embarkation. We were finally off the ship at 1:15 pm...I have NEVER EVEN AFTER 9/11 BEEN HELD ON BOARD PAST 10:45 AM. hOPE THIS HELPS WHEN MAKING YOUR DECISION TO DO OR NOT DO THE CARNIVAL DESTINY.
