Just a note, we have cruised 8 times on a variety of lines and enjoy going to the out-of-the-way places. We are not retired- and 18 days was probably too long a cruise but we were interested in these ports and destinations.
A couple of things up front- just in case you find my review too long! 1. HAL needs to watch the details. There were too many mistakes in the written program and on the TV channel with the info about our location, wind speed, etc. For instance, when we docked in St. John, the program called us the Amsterdam. Now I know how easy it is to cut and paste, but please proof read! And when the TV says that the seas are calm and it looks like a gale outside, you know someone is not updating the info. These are just a couple of examples- there were many occurrences per day throughout the trip.
2. The woman who gave port info needs to be enthusiastic about the ports! We heard her say several times in several ports that there was not much to do. People on this cruise knew they were going to very small towns and just wanted some local information. Also, when she was on the loudspeaker through Prins Christian Sund, her slow and inaccurate reading of a tour book got to be very annoying. Surely she could have done some prior research and given the job a little more enthusiasm.
