This was our first cruise on Norwegian and our first cruise to New England and Canada. We have cruised previously on Royal Caribbean to the Caribbean. Our overall experience with Norwegian Spirit was "OK". The cruise itself was great and the port of call very pleasant. Our rooms were kept very clean and neat, but furnishings were "spartan" at best. Beds were very uncomfortable. The entertainment was great and the cruise director did a wonderful job. Were this cruise lack compared to others was in dining and ship staff service. The food was barely acceptable. With a few exceptions, service also was poor. Very seldom did a waiter speak in a friendly tone or ask if we needed anything else. The buffet areas were the worst. They closed food lines early. Ran out of various items. Throughout the ship that degree of friendliness and courtesy we were used to was missing. The ship for the most part was neat and clean, but needed some sprucing up. Lights were burned out. The double pane windows in one of the lounge ares were half full of rain water that was turning brown. A cruise is what you make it and although the Norwegian Spirit had some short comings, we still had fun
