First, a little background: This was my 5th cruise, 2nd with RCI. I was with my wife and two daughters (10 & 8) and we booked an inside cabin.

Embarkation: We drove to the port and parked our car in the lot. Cost for 9 day cruise was $144. Port was easy to locate. We live on Eastern Long Island and it took us less than 2 hours to get there. The location to unload luggage is a bit crowded, but we had no issues. Parked the car in the lot, then had about 2 minute walk to get back to the terminal. Went on line to register, was given a number and proceeded to check in. Very smooth check in. We did not have passports. We used Birth Certificates and Picture ID for me and my wife. Went right through. The number we were given was a number of the bus we would need to take to get to the ship. Waited about 20 minutes for the number to be called and we loaded on the bus, took a minute ride to the ship and was on.

Ship: The ship is Amazing! It is Huge! I was in awe when I stood at the dock and looked up at her. The ship is in fantastic shape for being 7 years old. The exterior and interior common areas are impeccable. Staff is constantly cleaning, painting doing whatever it takes to keep the ship looking great. The Royal Promenade is a great idea and works really well. Shops were nice, the bars seemed very comfortable and the Cafe' was great. Coffee anytime, Pizza, sandwiches, cookies, etc.. Dining rooms were nicely done and were quite comfortable. Pool area was nice, but seemed overcrowded at times. I don't know how you stop that with 3,500 passengers though. The general pools were OK in the morning, but by the afternoon the water started to get really cloudy and there was hair in the pool. I think they release the water overnight and put fresh in in the am. I would suggest that they do this mid day as well. We tended to enjoy the Adult (Solarium) pool area much better. With the kids in camp we were able to spend a good bit of time there. Lounge chairs were really comfortable in the Solarium. There is a great walking/jogging track above the pool area. 5 laps = 1 mile.
