Embarkation: We arrived around 12:00, having already been in Vancouver for a few days (nice trip). It could not have been smoother or easier. We were on board by 12:15 or 12:30. I went to guest relations to try to reserve at the specialty restaurant and buy kids soda stickers, but only to be directed to other locations. Couldn't see maitre d' either! But no problem, everything fell into place quickly. Room was ready promptly at 1:00 and was lovely. Light in bathroom was flickering, and when we reported it to Lucy (our cabin stewardess), it was repaired within minutes.

First night's entertainment featured the naturalist, Brent Nixon, who was really fabulous. His "shtick" on stage is a surprise -- very manic and wild -- but he is very knowledgeable and gave great programs throughout the week. He really adds a ton of value to the trip, if you are looking for nature stuff.

The celebrity orchestra is great, as is the a cappella vocal band. The celebrity singers and dancers were a bit hack. Later in the week, comedians Jeff Nease, and subsequently Patrick and "matilda" (ventriloquist) were truly enjoyable.
